Our story – Phoebe and why TANGO2?
The charity TANGO2UK was established in 2024 by Tim and Hannah Driffill. Their daughter received the diagnosis of TANGO2 age 6 in 2023 after many years of health problems and unclear diagnoses.
Upon receiving our diagnosis, they were incredibly grateful to contact the TANGO2 Research foundation in the USA who are leading the way in gathering families together and striving for increased research. They recognised the need for UK based charity to support families locally and to enable work to improve care of TANGO2 affected individuals within the NHS.
Hannah, Phoebe’s mum, is a General Practitioner within the NHS and her clinical role and experience presents a great opportunity to make a difference and reach out to relevant UK clinical teams. We also recognized the potential within the UK to champion fundraising and explore opportunities for grants which were not available to overseas charities. This enables us to engage national clinical and academic teams in research and change the narrative on TANGO2.
Tim, Phoebe’s dad, is a finance professional with 20+ years’ experience working in financial services in the UK and overseas. His job largely involves collaborating with people from all disciplines and backgrounds to solve problems. He hopes to use this experience to develop and grow TANGO2UK to reach the many thousands of undiagnosed families in the UK through developing the TANGO2UK network. Tim also leads the administrative and governance side of our charity.
